Squirrels can descend a tree headfirst by rotating their ankles 180 degrees. They can smell food under a foot of snow and can leap about ten times their body length. The smallest and largest squirrels (including their tail) are pygmy squirrels (4"-5.5") and the Bhutan giant flying squirrel (up to 4'2").
